Bracelet of life

In an effort to raise public awareness about the terrible human cost of worldwide famine, starvation and malnutrition, Médecins Sans Frontières launched the Bracelet of Life campaign. It is a way of letting us see the reality of malnutrition.

WHAT IS THE BRACELET OF LIFE?
It is a colourful strip of paper, but it is also a real tool used by Médecins Sans Frontières Volunteers to test whether a child is suffering from malnutrition. By wrapping the Bracelet around the upper arm of a child under 5, a doctor or nurse can tell how seriously malnourished a child is and what treatment they need. The Bracelet is divided into four colours, as shown below.

In the field, the Bracelet of Life is called a MUAC, which stands for Middle Upper Arm Circumference. The MUAC bracelets look like this:
